"Edible Flowers" for April Fools Day

Z can't stand feeling tricked, so making food that looks like other food isn't an option. Plus if she thinks she's getting a purple grape but finds out it's an olive - even though olives are one of her favorite foods - she won't eat it.

So instead of a fake meal, I decided to make her lunch into an edible bouquet of flowers. That is still clearly made from familiar foods.

For Z's edible bouquet, I used bamboo skewers as "stems," and stuck them out of a silicone flower pot muffin cup. I would have stuffed a hunk of cabbage or lettuce in the cup to serve as a weight for the base and an anchor for the picks, but this was staying horizontal, so I didn't need it.
To make different flowers, I used a scalloped circle cutter for the sandwiches, a flower veggie cutter for the thick-cut carrots, and 5-petal flower cutter for the apples (Z had 2 half-eaten ones, so I just salvaged what I could and used them for our lunches.) The strawberries stayed as-is, like rosebuds.

Flower Girl
Organic apples, carrots, and strawberries; GF White Chocolate Wonderful PB sandwiches
E got a simpler lunch in our usual EasyLunchbox. I didn't bother making hers too cute. Just some regular carrot flowers and one flower sandwich. The other sandwiches are made from bread scraps.

Bouquet for Mama
PBCo Cinnamon Raisin Swirl, organic apples, Red White and Blue salad (Fresh Express Veggie Lover's plus organic spinach, cabbage, mixed lettuces, apples, carrots, strawberries, blueberries, watermelon radish,) hemp hearts,
sunflower and chia seeds, raisins, rosemary vinaigrette (not shown)
Mama got the rest of the apple scraps, and one intact cut-out. The other shaped scraps were eaten on the spot. Nom. The carrot scraps were all chopped up and tossed in my salad.
