Home Sick: Hey! Those Are Mine! Nachos!

[Get it? Nachos? Not yours?]
Since Little Z and I had colds, and nothing exciting on the agenda worth spreading our plague, we stayed home and had a 'jammie day.' I don't remember what she had for breakfast. Probably cereal. But neither of us were very hungry for lunch. And I saw a sealed box of Triscuits on the counter (it's important that they were sealed. That means they weren't stale. My hubby is bag-closerly-disabled. He is incapable of rolling a baggie closed to prevent the cereal, chips or crackers from going stale. Seriously. Luckily, he is also incapable of putting food away, so I usually find the cereal in the wrong place (counter, table, etc) and can fix it before we have to throw it all away. I'm constantly finding the milk out on the table or counter. I have the same problem. I solved it by putting everything away as I used it. Even if it meant I'd have to go back and do it all again for a second helping. Using up a little more of my time (and getting extra exercise!) is far superior than having to throw out and buy milk every 2 or 3 days! Or finding out the cereal is no good when you have no back-up plan!)

I love Triscuit nachos. Salty, crunchy, cheesy goodness. Plus they're easy to make, and don't require real oven skills!
 Step 1: Lay Triscuits out on plate (for microwave) or cookie sheet (lined with tinfoil, so you don't have to wash it after!) Set oven to BROIL (both dials! Harhar!) if you are using oven.
Step 2: Grate cheese or cut slice(s) into smaller bits and place onto crackers as desired. (I prefer a low cheese to cracker ratio. But the Princess prefers big gooey globs of cheese.) We tried grating cheese at first, but somehow, none of it survived to touch a cracker. Someone was eating it as fast as she could shave it off the block! (Which was pretty slow, since she wouldn't let me help, and was using the tiny end of the grater.)
So I was forced to slice off some cheese (amidst protests about "No! Thass MY CHEESS!") But she was perfectly happy to place one bit per cracker.
Step 3: Microwave for around 30 seconds. I did smaller batches (5-6 crackers) at 20-25 seconds later.
If using oven, WATCH CAREFULLY. Maybe a few minutes or less. Pull out when the cheese starts melting or bubbling. Seriously. Don't take your eyes off of them for a second!
Step 4: Let cool a little (if needed.) Eat. Omnomnom.
The Princess only ate around 1-2 actual crackers. She ate the cheese off the tops and demanded more 'Hot Cheese." I had to make not 1, not 2, but THREE more batches. Guess who got stuck with all the licked crackers?
I felt obligated to increase the nutritionment of our lunch, so I found a banana that we shared.
